Biography

Benedetta Tondi received the master degree (cum laude) in Electronics and Communications Engineering at the University of Siena, Siena, Italy, in 2012, and the PhD degree in 2016 with a thesis entitled 'Theoretical Foundations of Adversarial Detection and Applications to Multimedia Forensics'. She is currently Research Associate at the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics, University of Siena. She is assistant for the course of Information Theory and Coding and Multimedia Security. She is a member of the IEEE Young Professionals and IEEE Signal Processing Society and a member of the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT). From January 2019, she is a member of the IEEE Information Forensics and Security (IF-S) Technical Committee. Her research interest focuses on the application of Information theory and Game theory concepts to forensics and counter-forensics analysis and more in general on the adversarial signal processing, and on the use of deep learning techniques for multimedia forensics and security. From October 2014 to February 2015 she has been a visiting student at the University of Vigo at the Signal Processing in Communications Group (GPSC). She is currently involved in the American DARPA MediFor project, Media Forensics Integrity Analysis programme, 2016-2020. She has been designated reviewer on the technical program committee of several IEEE Workshops and International Conferences. She is recipientof the Best Student Paper Award at the IEEE International Workshop on Information Forensics and Security (WIFS) 2014, the Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Workshop on Information Forensics and Security (WIFS) 2015 and at the The Ninth International Conferences on Advances in Multimedia (MMEDIA) 2017. She is winner of the 2017 GTTI PhD Award for the best PhD Theses defended at an Italian University in the areas of Communications Technologies (Signal Processing, Digital Communications, Networking). She was co-organizer of a Special Session on Adversarial Multimedia Forensics at EUSIPCO 2018. From July 2018, she serves as an Associate Editor for the Eurasip Journal of Information Security.

Her research interest focuses on the application of Information theory and Game theory concepts to forensics and counter-forensics analysis and more in general on the Adversarial Signal Processing.

Research group

She is part of the VIPP group, led by Mauro Barni at the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematics of the University of Siena.
